IDDRC investigators collaborate with numerous clinical facilities
at UAB and the Children's' Hospital of Alabama. Consumers seeking
clinical information or appointments should contact those facilities
through the
normal appointment process for each facility. Some clinics
will require either a referral or an evaluation before providing
clinical services. The links below will proceed to the home
site of the listed clinics. While it's not feasible to link
to all UAB clinical facilities through this site the links
below including the general link at the bottom of this page
provide a path to most UAB facilities.

Children's
Hospital of Alabama - Children’s Health System
is an integrated child health care network dedicated to providing
comprehensive pediatric expertise for children. Children’s
Hospital is a private, not-for-profit hospital. It is also
teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Alabama
School of Medicine and the UAB Department of Pediatrics.
Many UAB IDDRC members are affiliated with this large facility
on the UAB Campus.
Rare
Disease Clinical Research Center -The NIH-funded Rare
Disease Clinical Research Center (RDCRC) was established
at the Civitan International Research Center at UAB. As part
of the RDCRC, UAB joins 6 other sites across the US as a
member of the Angelman, Rett and Prader-Willi consortium,
under the direction of pediatric neurologist and internationally
recognized Rett syndrome expert, Alan K. Percy, M.D. As a
result of the establishment of the RDCRC Consortium and the
long and intense interest of Dr. Percy and his team in Rett
syndrome, the 5-year Rett Syndrome Natural History Study
began enrollment in 2004.
The
Kirklin Clinic - The Kirklin Clinic, a member of the
UAB Health System, is a specially designed center for outpatient
care housing more than 700 physicians in 35 specialties.
Located in the Medical Center District of Birmingham at 2000
6th Avenue South on the campus of the University of Alabama
at Birmingham.

Civitan-Sparks Clinics - Wide range of clinics providing
multi-disciplinary evaluations for all developmental disabilities
and provides services often difficult to find for persons
with developmental disabilities such as dental care, eye
care, audiology, psychology, physical and occupational therapy,
speech
and augmentative communication, and many other programs to
serve families and newborns.

Genetics Clinic -
The Pediatric Genetics clinic at UAB evaluates patients from
all over the state for a variety of reasons including developmental
delay, birth defects, and a family history of genetic disease.
UAB
Pittman General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) - The GCRC
is a special environment for conducting research involving human
subjects and provides carefully controlled conditions for properly
collecting specimens, developing and serving appropriate diets,
and closely monitoring patients for their medical needs as well
as scientific evaluation. In addition, the GCRC staff works closely
with principal investigators and study coordinators to ensure
that protocol study design is followed.
